Presentations
King-Kusma offers a 50-minute overview of the writing process, PREMISE to PUBLICATION. This informative presentation discusses the main points of this process and provides many examples, plus handouts for teachers to use with their students on their writing projects.
In-Depth Presentations
A brief writing process overview is helpful, but valuable information lies within each phase. Each key component is examined more profoundly in this series of five 50-minute sessions, one for each writing process phase. Each session presented includes examples and handouts, for each
Workshops
Interactive workshops allow students to participate meaningfully in the writing process. For example, taking their idea to a story premise, world-building, or learning about the different types of poems and writing poetry themself.
“Read To”
The authors also provide ‘readings’ from their Children’s Picture Books to Primary students. The chosen book will be donated to the classroom after the session.
Testimonials
From “The Writing Process: Premise to Publishing” presented June 13, 2022 at Galashiels Academy, Galashiels, Scotland UK to 120 National 5 English pupils.
“Derek King and Julie Kusma came to speak to our whole N5 English cohort this week about the writing process. They gave insights on how to write and publish fiction, from coming up with ideas to the final stages of publishing and marketing. There were lots of good tips for our pupils and it was great to show our keen writers that it is possible to create a career out of writing, as well as publish books while working in a different day job. Handouts were useful and emailed in advance for teachers to use. Overall, a very informative session for our pupils.”
