Part One by Jill Yoder
Jim and Judy Scaresdale purchased a run-down building sitting on five acres of land in 2015. Unfortunately, they didn’t research the origins of the property before buying it. It’s located in a small town called Coward, Kentucky. Yes, that is the town’s official name; nobody could tell them how or why it received that name.

LEAVE! Do not stay in this room!
My husband, Josh, and I were on our way seaside for the weekend when a terrifying squall roared in. The force skidded our car across the shoulder and into the ravine, where a massive uprooted tree crushed our vehicle. We were lucky to crawl out from under the car’s caved-in roof, or so we thought.
Part Three by Jill Yoder
The owners, Jim and Judy, are wonderful people, and I’m leaving you this message for two reasons; because we are encouraged to do so, and for the first time in our lives, we are terrified.
My husband, Jake, and I are open-minded people, sometimes to a fault. Our son, Jared, turned three this past June, and we thought it would be an exciting adventure to visit a historical town or rent a room in a historic hotel. It was a fun surprise to find this place, so we thought.

00:01 Silence
00:20 I’m Jessica Jacobs… and I’m still fuming. I’ll go back and dub in the intro I’m supposed to use. But you know what? I’m stubborn, always have been. Guess that’d be my greatest flaw. It’s certainly why I feel the need to prove myself as a competent person and as a skilled paranormal investigator.
Part Five by Jill Yoder
Dear Guest,
What I am about to tell you will either scare the hell out of you and make you leave or make you too curious, and you stay. Either way, I’m telling you what happened.
Yesterday a young woman, Janelle, came into the lobby. She passed around a picture of her sister and asked if anyone had seen or heard from her. Her missing sister, Jessica, is a paranormal investigator.

29 August
As I write this, I stand in the foyer of the Scarefest Inn with my partner Justin Smythe, waiting for the owners to arrive. We planned to meet Janelle, our other partner, Jessica Jacob’s sister. So far, neither she nor the owners have appeared. I’ve read every entry recorded in this guest journal, and I must admit, even as a paranormal investigator, the events written are outlandish and terrifying.
Part Seven by Jill Yoder
To the staff of Scarefest Inn,
My name is Detective Jerry Olson, and I work for the Crow County Police Department. The Jacobs family hired me to investigate the disappearance of their daughter Jessica and the unexplained medical condition of their other daughter Janelle. Unfortunately, both women stumbled upon nefarious activity during their short stay at your Inn. Therefore, any information you can give me regarding the day-to-day happenings at your establishment would be helpful and appreciated.
Part Eight by Julie Kusma
00:01 This is paranormal investigator John Blackwell. I’m standing just outside the Scarefest Inn in Coward, Kentucky’s Crow County. For the record, it’s December 21, and I’m meeting Detective Jerry Olson in the woods behind the hostel, and you betcha, I’m recording every second of this. Here we go… [inaudible sounds]
